Amber With Inclusions

We are luck enough to have a very rare fossil in our shop. Most amber collectors get very excited over a Praying Mantis in amber. This amazing piece has also got a superb and very large silver fish in the same piece.

This Baltic Amber piece is around 6cm long and approx 40 million years old.

The world is currrently still very exited by an 87 million year old Praying Mantis found encased in amber in Japan may be a "missing link" between mantises from the Cretaceous period and modern-day insects.

Their fossil mantis measures 0.5 inch (1.4 centimeters) from its antennae to the tip of its abdomen.
